1. Our Bodies Matter to God

Why God cares about how we treat our bodies

You may not hear this in church very often, but our bodies matter to God. God demonstrates throughout the whole of Scripture that He places high value on the body He has given each one of us. This message lays the Biblical foundation for training and maintaining your body to the glory of God.

2. Food Is For Fuel

Eating God’s way

God cares about what we put into our body, His Temple. The First Commandment God gave to Moses tells us that we should have no other gods before him. Unknowingly many of us, as Scripture warns, have made our bellies our god. Your belly has become your god when your appetite dictates what you eat and drink regardless of the health consequences. God has given us all things to enjoy, but this message reminds us that food is ultimately just the fuel that energizes our bodies.

3. Nutrition 101

Practical advice for eating well

It is one thing to understand the importance of eating God’s way, but many of us have no idea where to start. This lesson begins with the basics of proper nutrition and offers practical advice for meal planning, grocery shopping and organizing your pantry and kitchen.

4. Made to Move

The importance of being physically active

In addition to proper diet, physical exercise is also vital to total well being. Our bodies are incredible machines designed by God to be worked. Exercise improves our mood, increases energy levels, improves brain function, combats chronic diseases, aids in weight management, promotes better sleep, and improves relationships.

5. Mind Over Matter

The secret to overcoming obstacles

In order to change your circumstance you first have to change your mind. There is a common principle in martial arts, gymnastics, dance, and animal training that says “where the head goes the body will follow.” Similarly, wherever your head goes, your life will follow. Scripture tells us that we can do all things through Christ who gives us Strength. We have to believe this promise, and replace negative, self-defeating thoughts with positive, scriptural affirmation. Scripture repeatedly affirms the importance of our thought life and admonishes us to “take every thought captive to the obedience of Christ.” This lesson looks at the importance of attitude and faith in overcoming obstacles when it comes not just to our health but every area of life.
