Here is your chance to get a handle on the most difficult issue facing many Memphians. Over the last year, there were as many foreclosures as there were home sales in Shelby County. The Lakeland and Arlington area closed on the second highest number of sub-prime loans in the nation. The number of foreclosures will certainly increase and the stress will grow.
Adolescents and young adults are affected as well — the problem of debt sweeps across generations. Increasingly, credit card companies target vulnerable college students away from home for the first time, drawing them in with offers of free pizza, hats or t-shirts. Students are often approved for a credit card regardless of income or employment status and quickly find themselves in over their heads. Don't start your adult life in debt; learn God's way of handling money.
